Weekly drop-in meditation classes
with Gen Kelsang Demo
Gen Kelsang Demo leads the drop-in meditation class in the River Room at the Community Arts Centre, 19 Taupo Quay (rear entrance), on Thursday nights @ 6:00 - 7:30 pm
The class includes guided meditations, teachings, discussion and the chance to stay for refreshments afterwards. You can speak to class assistant Marion Taylor on 06 347 7107 or call or e-mail the Amitabha Centre if you have any questions, but there is no need to book - everyone is welcome. The suggested donation is $12 per class or $40 for four sessions. What to expect in a class

19 August Free Public Talk with Gen Kelsang Demo
- "Meditations for Daily Living."
The practice of meditation is very extensive. Gen Demo will explain how we can hold peace of mind and engage in meditation while we are going about normal day to day activities. Everyone is welcome. There is a warm welcome to those who have not taken part in a class before.
Regular Term 2 classes will be based on How to Solve Our Human Problems by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
In these classes, we shall consider how in this busy modern world, our experiences of happiness are fleeting and short-lived, while inner peace eludes us completely. Our negative states of mind, such as uncontrolled desire and anger, create endless problems for ourselves and others and prevent us from fulfilling our deepest wishes.The teachings and meditations will be of a practical nature with direct application to daily life.
