advice from buddha’s heart: half-day course, whanganui, may 12

The course will begin with an introduction to Buddhism and demonstrate how we can practically apply our understanding to solve our problems and find a more meaningful life.

As Buddhist master Shantideva says:

We need to put Buddha’s teachings, the Dharma, into practice,
Because nothing can be accomplished just by reading words.
A sick man will never be cured of his illness
Through merely reading medical instructions!

Because everyone has different wishes and capabilities, there are many different levels of Buddhist practice. In The New Meditation Handbook, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso shows how we can choose the level we feel most comfortable with and gradually, through improving our understanding and familiarity, advance progressively to higher levels of understanding and practice.

Gen Demo will explain how the practices presented in this book are actual methods to control our mind and build our own meditation practice
